Terms and Conditions

Twitter Beaches competition. The promotion commences at 10am (GMT) on 25th January 2013 and closes at 11:59pm (GMT) on 31th January 2013. Entry is open to everyone aged 18 years or older at the commencement date. You must have a Twitter account in order to enter. To enter, simply send us (via our Twitter account) the best picture you have taken of a beach in your travels. You must "@reply" to "@lonelyplanet" and tag your entry with #lpbeach in order for us to receive your entry (if you don't, it's possible your entry could be filtered out of search results, and we won't receive it). Entry is free, and you can only enter once - don't create multiple accounts to try and get around this. Anyone creating multiple accounts will be ineligible to win. Make sure you comply with the Twitter Terms of Service (and the Twitter Rules), because failing to do so could make your entry ineligible.

Entries will be displayed on our website at http://lonelyplanet.com/competitions/lpbeaches and will be open to public vote. You can vote up to 10 times each day during the promotion period, but you can only vote once per entry per day, and you cannot vote for your own entry. Lonely Planet reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who has engaged in unlawful or improper conduct that is designed to jeopardise the fair conduct of the promotion or is generally damaging to the reputation of Lonely Planet, or has otherwise breached these conditions of entry (as determined in Lonely Planet’s sole discretion). Lonely Planet can cancel or modify the promotion if there are compelling technical or administrative reasons which we cannot control. If that happens, Lonely Planet will select the winners from all eligible entries received at that time. The 20 most-voted entries as at the end date of the competition will form a shortlist from which a panel of 3 judges will select the winner and runners-up (based on topicality, composition and overall quality).

One lucky first prize winner will receive a copy of Lonely Planet's "Great Adventures" (approximate retail value £15.99) and a copy of a Lonely Planet guidebook of their choice (up to an approximate retail value of £14.99). The two runners-up will each receive a copy of a Lonely Planet guidebook of their choice (up to an approximate retail value of £14.99). Total prize value is approximately £60.96. Winners will be notified by Twitter direct message. Prizes are not transferrable and will not be substituted for cash. You warrant that your entry is your own work. On submission, you give Lonely Planet a worldwide, irrevocable license to reproduce, publish, adapt, communicate and broadcast all or part of your entry for the purposes of the competition. On submission, you also consent to us editing, re-using, storing, reproducing and communicating your entry in any medium. Generally, we will attribute you as the author where possible, but in some circumstances, we may decide not to. By submitting your entry, you agree that these conditions of entry apply to your entry.
